On Friday, 24 November 2023, His Grace Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria, of the Church of Cyprus, visited the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney.
At the entrance of the Archdiocese His Grace Bishop Gregorios was met by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, who accompanied him to the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady, where he was cordially received by the Chancellor, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Christophoros Krikelis, and other clergy of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
After being guided through the Cathedral and informed about its history, His Grace Bishop Gregorios was taken to the Archbishop’s Office, where he was welcomed with great joy by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria conveyed to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios the fraternal greetings of His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios of New Justiniana and all Cyprus.
Afterwards, the two Hierarchs enjoyed a fruitful discussion on issues of common interest, focusing on Cypriot Hellenism of the fifth continent.
Also, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia comprehensively informed Bishop Gregorios about the work, which is carried out by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, with the blessing of the Mother Church of Constantinople and His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Concluding, His Eminence asked the Bishop of Mesaoria to convey, upon his return to the great island of Cyprus, his heartfelt wishes to His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus, taking this opportunity to pray that the much-desired peaceful resolution of the Cyprus problem comes soon.
