On Friday, 30 June 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia received with great joy the visit of Metropolitan Anthony of Hierapolis and Archbishop Daniel of Pamphilon, Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the pastoral care of our Ukrainian brethren in the Diaspora.
Upon their arrival at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, in Sydney, the two Hierarchs were warmly welcomed by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, and by the Chancellor Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christophoros Krikelis.
After venerating in the Cathedral of the Annunciation, they met with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios in the Archbishop’s Office, where they discussed, in a fraternal and cordial atmosphere, issues of common interest, mainly concerning the suffering people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Diaspora, as well as the presence of Ukrainians in Australia.
The meeting ended with the unanimous condemnation of the invasion of the Russian troops in the territory of Ukraine and with the wish to end the fratricidal war and the resulting humanitarian disaster as soon as possible.
