The excellent addresses of the four Metropolitans, who arrived in Sydney from Greece, and were invited by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, were received with great success and acceptance. Their Eminences’ addressed the first part (Theology and Ecclesiology) of the 12th Clergy-Laity Congress of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, whose general theme is “Walk Within the Church”.
The addresses of the Metropolitans had the following topics:
– Address by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia entitled: “Priesthood: Grace in the Church and ministry in the world”.
– Address by His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupolis entitled: “The syndrome of mental exhaustion (burn out) and the clergy”.
– Address by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petras and Cherronesos entitled: “Walk within the Church: the unity of the local Church secured by the Bishop”.
– Address by His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymnos and Avlopotamos entitled: “Walk within the Church: tendencies of autonomy from the local Church in our ministry”.
Both His Eminence, our Shepherd, Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as well as the God-loving Bishops, the clergy and the people, received the wise addresses of Their Eminences the Metropolitans with great satisfaction and thanked the speakers, the Holy Hierarchs, confessing that their speeches were an intensive lesson in ecclesiology.
