On Friday, 17 May 2024, the renowned Greek performer Mr. Dimitris Basis visited the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney.
Accompanied by Mrs. Nia Karteris, Chairperson of the Sydney Greek Festival, Mr. Basis met with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, with whom he had a friendly and cordial conversation.
The popular singer, who is in Australia to participate in a series of scheduled concerts, sought and received the Archbishop’s wishes and blessings.
Archbishop Makarios, after congratulating Mr. Basis for the solid ties he has created with the Greeks of the fifth continent, expressed his paternal satisfaction for the piety, which distinguishes him, and for his concern to visit the local Church and its Chief Shepherd, to pay his respects and be spiritually strengthened.
Also, during the meeting, the Archbishop informed the singer about the celebrations for the centenary of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, which will culminate next October, with the Apostolic Visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
