On Wednesday, 11 June, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, visited the Minister of Tourism of Greece, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, with whom he had a cordial and constructive discussion.
The focus of the discussion was on the ties of the Greek Diaspora in Australia with the Motherland and the possibilities of strengthening them, particularly with regard to the younger generation.
Also, Ms. Kefalogianni was informed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios about the multidimensional work and future plans of the Holy Archdiocese and recognised the contribution of the Church to the cohesion and further progress of Hellenism on the fifth continent. She emphasised, moreover, that the Greek Community is a valuable ambassador of Greece in Australia and agreed with the Archbishop on the need to maintain a stable channel of communication and cooperation.
