On Monday, 4 March 2024, the Consul of Greece in Perth, Mrs. Georgia Karasiotou, accompanied by her husband and their two children, visited the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, in Sydney.

They were warmly welcomed by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while the subsequent discussion between His Eminence and the Greek diplomat was also cordial, with an emphasis on issues concerning Hellenism in Western Australia.

Mrs. Karasiotou’s visit to the Archbishop of Australia took place in light of the upcoming completion of her term at the Greek Consulate in Perth. His Eminence thanked her for the close and constructive cooperation she developed in previous years with the local Church and wished her well for the new tasks she will undertake after completing her diplomatic mission on the fifth continent.

For her part, the Consul, after returning the thanks for the kind cooperation, wished for His Eminence Archbishop Makarios to have good health and strength, to continue the great pastoral work he is undertaking in Australia, for both Orthodoxy and Hellenism.

Prior to the meeting with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Mrs. Karasiotou and the members of her family visited the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady, where they venerated and were informed about its long history.
