The young men and women who had successfully completed their studies at the three Greek Orthodox Colleges in Sydney and excelled in the 2023 HSC final exams, in the State of New South Wales, were awarded by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia on Thursday, 22 February 2024, in a modest and warm ceremony which was hosted in the Great Hall of Saint Andrew’s Theological College.

The Excellence Awards Ceremony, which is organised annually by the Education Committee of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, was attended also by Their Graces, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christophoros Krikelis, the clergy who serve in the Parishes where the three Greek Orthodox Colleges belong (All Saints, Saint Spyridon and Saint Euphemia), as well as the Heads of School of the educational institutions, teachers and educators, and several parents and guardians of the young students who were awarded.

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, after warmly congratulating the students who excelled in their subject fields, offered them all his paternal blessing for the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and wished for God to always illuminate and guide their steps. His Eminence also addressed a warm request that they keep the spiritual principles and moral values, which they received during their studies in the Greek Orthodox Colleges, as “the apple of their eye”. Finally, he assured that the Holy Archdiocese of Australia will always have its arms open to them all and will be there to support their God-pleasing works.
