On Saturday lunchtime, 5th October, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, visited the official Prime Ministerial Residence in Sydney, following a gracious invitation from the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Anthony Albanese.
The Ecumenical Patriarch had an extensive and fruitful discussion with Mr Albanese, whom he first thanked for his honorary presence at the official Doxology service held earlier that same day at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in celebration of His All-Holiness’ reception.
In a warm atmosphere, issues of mutual interest concerning Hellenism and Orthodoxy in the fifth continent were discussed with the Ecumenical Patriarch expressing his enjoyment with the excellent institutional cooperation between the Government of Australia and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, as well as with the sincere personal friendship between the country’s Prime Minister and His Eminence Archbishop Makarios.
It is noted that His All-Holiness Bartholomew, along with Their Eminences Makarios and Kyrillos, signed the guestbook of the Prime Ministerial Residence.
