On Tuesday, 9 January, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia made a visit to the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.
His Eminence was warmly welcomed by the Consul General Mr. Yannis Mallikourtis and his colleagues, with whom he exchanged warm personal wishes for the new year 2024.
His Eminence then blessed and cut the Vasilopita of the Consulate General, praying for God to grant health and strength to all the consulate staff, in order to continue to fulfill its mission in the most efficient way possible.
On this occasion, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios expressed his great satisfaction for the close and cordial cooperation of the Consulate General with the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, for the benefit of all Greeks in New South Wales.
Both His Eminence and Consul General Mr. Mallikourtis emphasised their intention to continue in 2024 to proceed in a spirit of cooperation and unity, in light of the celebrations for the 100 Year Anniversary of the Greek Orthodox Church on the fifth continent.
