His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and the Consul of Greece in Perth confirmed the excellent cooperation between the institutions they represent, while at the end of the meeting they exchanged commemorative gifts..
Upon His Eminence’s arrival to the facilities of the “Saint Andrew’s” Nursing Home, He received a warm welcome from the President of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, Mr. Pavlos Afkos, as well as by managers and staff members of the Nursing Home.
This was followed by a tour of the unit’s facilities, during which His Eminence had the opportunity to meet the elderly who live there. With great joy and emotion, the Archbishop embraced one by one the residents of the Nursing Home and took precious time to talk personally with each and every one of them, as well as for them all to chant hymns all together. For their part, the elderly residents of the nursing home reciprocated with warm smiles, visibly moved by the meeting they had with their Shepherd.
