On Saturday, 17 February, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia warmly welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Damaskinos of Joppa, of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney.
The two Hierarchs, after Archbishop Damaskinos venerated the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady held a private meeting in the Archbishop’s Office. In a brotherly and constructive atmosphere, they held a fruitful discussion around issues of common interest, concerning Orthodoxy and the current war situation in the Middle East region.
In fact, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, on behalf of the entire plenitude of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, wished that the bloodshed in the Holy Land would stop as soon as possible, that peace would prevail, and that the harmonious coexistence of people would be achieved, while the Hagiotaphite Hierarch conveyed to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the heartfelt wishes of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, and thanked him for the reception and hospitality.
