On Tuesday, June 7, the Archdiocesan Council of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia met, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, in Sydney.
The President and the members of the Archdiocesan Council expressed their infinite gratitude and their deepest respect to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Mother Church for their continued practical support to the entire local Church of Australia, while the topics they discussed included the new projects to be implemented in the Holy Archdiocese.
The Order of the Christ-Loving of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia was also awarded to Mr. Michael Diamantis, an Archon of the Holy Great Church of Christ.

The Archdiocesan Council of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia met yesterday, June 7, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, in Sydney, and, after a careful and thorough study of the items on the agenda, The President His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and the members of the council unanimously decided and announced the following:
1. We first glorify the Triune God and we express our infinite gratitude and our deepest respect to His All-Hollines our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Mother Church for their continued practical support to the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, our venerable Shepherd, our Bishops, the clergy and the faithful people of the fifth continent. The paternal care and concern of our Patriarch has been expressed from time to time in various ways, mainly and primarily with the election of our Archbishop, then with the election of our Local Bishops, of which we welcome the recently elected; His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta and His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, finally, by bringing the Ukrainian parishes and communities under the jurisdiction of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
2. During the meeting of the Archdiocesan Council, the new projects that will be implemented in the Holy Archdiocese of Australia were presented: a. The renovation of the buildings of the Holy Archdiocese and the construction of a museum and a multipurpose hall in the same area, b. The total reconstruction of the Theological School, c. The renovation of the buildings of the Holy Monastery “Axion Estin” in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote and the construction of spaces for education and cultural events, d. The purchase of the new Cathedral Church in Adelaide and the construction of spaces for the youth and the offices of the Archdiocese, e. The construction of a Childcare centre in Perth, in the area next to the offices of the Archdiocesan District of Perth. The members of the Archdiocese’s Council expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the projects, which will make the Archdiocese of Australia equal to the one it represents on the fifth continent.
3. His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, with the on the proposal of the Most Reverend Bishops and the other members of the Archdiocesan Council, most graciously honoured Mr Michael Diamantis, Archon of the Holy Great Church of Christ with the Order of the Christ-Loving of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, for his contribution to the local Church to date, especially to the Archdiocesan Council and in the course of the Archdiocese in many legal issues for the last 60 years. The Archbishop introduced the honoree, while the honoree, obviously moved by great emotion, offered his sincere thanks for the distinction of the Holy Archdiocese.
