With impressions and experiences still fresh from the recent Apostolic visit of His All-Holiness our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, to Australia, the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia convened yesterday, Tuesday 22 October 2024, under the Presidency of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

After the opening prayer, both His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia as well as Their Graces, The Bishops, prayed for the health and longevity of our Ecumenical Patriarch, on the occasion of yesterday’s anniversary of His election to the Apostolic and Ecumenical Throne of the Church of Constantinople, and expressed, once again, the gratitude of the plenitude of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia for the blessing of His visit to the fifth continent.

Then, following the proposal of the Archbishop, the Synod unanimously appointed His Grace. Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia as Chief Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod, and Archdeacon Athinagoras Karakonstantakis as Under Secretary

Finally, the Holy Synod proceeded to examine the issues included in the Agenda and made the suitable and appropriate decisions.

The Holy Eparchial Synod will continue its work today, Wednesday, 23 October 2024.
