During the pastoral visit of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to South Australia, and specifically in the “city of Churches”, Adelaide, a Priestly Synaxis of the clergy of the district was held, on the theme of the feasts of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit.
The main speaker was Archbishop Makarios, who analysed the deeper meanings of the Feast Days and focused his attention mainly on the word “Paraclete”, trying to interpret Christ’s words to His disciples “I will ask the father and he will give you another helper” (John 14:16). A fruitful theological discussion and dialogue followed, after Their Graces, Bishop Silouan of Sinope, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Adelaide, and Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Brisbane, had previously made their addresses and greeted the Priestly Synaxis.
Afterwards, the program of the upcoming visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Australia this coming October, was presented to the clergy of Adelaide, and ways were studied in which the clergy and people of South Australia could participate in the celebrations for the 100 years of the Holy Archdiocese, in which His All-Holiness will preside.
