Pontian Christmas carols, accompanied by the Pontian lyra, were sung to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia by youth and children of the Pontian Association of New South Wales “Pontoxeniteas”, who visited His Eminence at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese, in Sydney.
His Eminence, who was visibly moved, warmly thanked the “Pontoxeniteas” delegation for the visit and the special performance of the traditional Pontian Christmas Carols, while he also addressed to everyone his paternal wishes for a blessed Christmas and a fruitful new year.
Present also for the carols were His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christophoros Krikelis, who is of Pontian heritage, as well as the Ambassador of Romania to Australia, His Excellency Mr. Radu Gabriel Safta, who was visiting the Archbishop.
