The work of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia, which has been in extraordinary session since yesterday, continued today, Friday, 22 August 2025.
Following a relevant proposal by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and President of the Holy Eparchial Synod, a triprosopon (list of three candidates) for the Holy Diocese of Canberra was drawn up, by vote, as follows:
Archdeadon Athinagoras Karakonstantakis
Archimandrite Amphilohios Papantoniou
Hieromonk Nektarios Sitaras
Similarly, by vote, the triprosopon (list of three candidates) was drawn up for the filling of the position of Assistant Bishop to the Archbishop, who will serve as Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and as Vicar of the Immediate Archdiocesan District, as follows:”

The results of the formation of the triprosopa (lists of three candidates) will be sent to the Holy and Sacred Synod of our Ecumenical Patriarchate, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, for the canonical process of electing the new Bishops.
The Holy Eparchial Synod, once again, expresses its gratitude to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, thanks to whose vision and breadth the ecclesiastical affairs of our Local Church are being repositioned within their proper ecclesiological perspective.
The Holy Eparchial Synod will continue its proceedings tomorrow, Saturday, 23 August 2025.
