On Thursday, 5 December 2024, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, received at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese, in Sydney, the visit of a group of Orthodox believers from Germany, and specifically from the state of Baden-Württemberg. The group was led by the clergymen Archimandrite Sosipatros Savvidis, and Presbyter Athanasios Eleftheriou, from the Parishes of Saints Methodius and Cyril in Kirchheim unter Teck, and Saint James the Brother of God in Mühlacker, respectively.
His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia welcomed the visitors warmly and guided them through the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady, where he informed them about its history, as well as its recent renovation. Afterwards, he received them in the Archbishop’s Office where they had a fruitful discussion about the life of the Church and the Greek Diaspora in Australia, as well as in Germany.
At the end of the meeting, after exchanging wishes for the feast of Christmas and the Holy Twelve Days, the Archbishop offered all the visitors a set of collector’s coins from the anniversary series issued by the Holy Archdiocese of Australia for the hundred years since its establishment, while he asked the two clergy to convey his fraternal greetings to their Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Avgoustinos of Germany.
